Pinch Pot Cup Sculpture and the artwork of Wesley Anderegg
Wesley Anderegg is the inspiration for this pinch pot cup sculpture in which students will represent themselves in a cartoonish way while expressing a specific idea, situation or theme that is ‘on their minds’. Wesley creates unusual, somewhat creepy charaters that represent people he knows, things he's experienced and places he's been. Each one of his sculptures tells a mini-story that gives us an idea about what is on his mind. Some of the sculptures are funny, some serious and some are both. For this project students will create a self-portrait that tells us a mini-story and gives us an idea what is on each person's mind.
Using the clay provided students will create a portrait “cup” that has all of the elements of a human head, face and upper body. The open head will hold objects that the student models in clay to represent what is ‘on their mind’.
the Sculpture should include:
The Head
Shoulders, Arms and Hands
Eyes, Nose Mouth, Ears (or Hair)
Other clay elements modeled to represent a specific topic, idea, situation or theme.
The clay should be handled with a high level of craftsmanship as possible and tools should be used to blend and model the material.
